About us

Above all, we are one thing: a diverse group of young people united by a love of the circus.

Our team consists of circus educators, social workers, students, and trainees from a wide variety of fields—ranging from medicine, physics, and sports to civil engineering and physical therapy. We are united not only by our enthusiasm for the circus, but also by our shared roots—almost all of us come from Circus Configurani, the student circus at Viktoriaschule Aachen. After performing together on various stages between Aachen and Greece, attending numerous juggling festivals, leading summer camps, and completing advanced training in circus education, we spent a lot of time discussing how we could pass on this passion—and decided to turn our visions into reality.

Our vision

circus/werk is meant to be a place where everyone feels at home. Here, everyone should find a place and enjoy coming to train. Circus can have a significant impact on personal well-being: Through circus education approaches, important key competencies such as personal development, resilience, and body awareness can be strengthened. We want to make this opportunity—which we ourselves were all able to enjoy in our childhood and youth—available to more people in the city. The location of C-Werk in Rothe Erde, a socially disadvantaged neighborhood, reinforces our fundamental vision rooted in urban policy and social space. We aim to use circus projects to reach as many people as possible through accessible programs—regardless of age, gender, nationality, or social background.

Founding of a Association

We are in the process of establishing an association with the aim of becoming a nonprofit organization. We are currently drafting and reviewing the bylaws. More information will follow soon.
